The desire to help others is strong in northern Colorado. Even as we all experienced one of the more trying years in memory, helping cancer patients in need was foremost in many people’s hearts.

► For four Fridays in October, The Human Bean of Northern Colorado offered Coffee for a Cure bundles, donating 100% of the sales from each bundle to cancer patient assistance funds in Larimer and Weld counties. The total donation to our assistance funds was $27,266.

► From October through December, Bank of Colorado pledged to match donations to our Cancer Patient Assistance Fund, up to $8,000—and our community rose to the challenge with donations that surpassed the goal.

► On Oct. 4, Wilbur’s Total Beverage held its annual Wilbur’s Day, donating 100% of profits that day to help women with breast cancer pay for basic needs and medical bills. The total donation added up to $7,397.

These and other contributions from our caring community resulted in over $237,000 added to our cancer patient assistance funds in 2020.

For some patients, this help can mean the difference between financial solvency and financial disaster. Instead of worrying about finances, patients can focus on their treatments and on getting well—directly and positively affecting their outcomes.

We extend our sincere thanks to Bank of Colorado, The Human Bean of Northern Colorado and Wilbur’s Total Beverage. We also thank the many other businesses and individual donors who held fundraising events in 2020 and contributed to help cancer patients in need.
