PVH and MCR Foundation is now UCHealth Northern Colorado Foundation. With the opening of UCHealth Greeley Campus slated for this spring, the regional focus and footprint of UCHealth and our hospitals is important to reflect in the foundation’s name. The foundation now provides philanthropic support for Greeley Hospital in addition to Poudre Valley Hospital and Medical Center of the Rockies, along with their associated clinics.
Our sister organization, Longs Peak Hospital Foundation, will continue to provide philanthropic support for Longs Peak Hospital. As has been the case since that hospital opened, our two foundations will continue to work collaboratively, leveraging synergies when they exist, yet customizing giving opportunities to meet each region’s unique needs.
We hope you are as excited as we are about the new name and what it stands for—a regional focus that brings unity and world-class health care to our increasingly interconnected northern Colorado communities.
Here are some answers to frequently asked questions about our name change:
Why regional?
UCHealth applies a regional approach to the health care services offered in northern Colorado, with many departments, physicians and health care professionals delivering care at multiple hospitals and clinics throughout the area. Our foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, works side-by-side with UCHealth to raise philanthropic support for these services. We are better able to support UCHealth programs and services through a structure that mirrors that of our health system.
Structuring our foundation to serve Greeley Hospital, Medical Center of the Rockies, Poudre Valley Hospital, and the Cancer Center on UCHealth’s Harmony Campus in Fort Collins, as well as the clinics and programs affiliated with each hospital, reflects the interconnectedness of health care, community engagement and business activities across the region.
We are governed by a 19-member Board of Directors with representation from communities and sectors across northern Colorado. Additionally, we are building teams of Community Advocates to provide further connectivity in each of our anchor communities of Fort Collins, Greeley and Loveland.
What is a 501(c)(3) organization?
A 501(c)(3) organization is an entity that: (1) has been organized under federal law, (2) is operated for a 501(c)(3) purpose, (3) benefits an unidentified charitable class of people, (4) engages in activities that are non-political in nature, and (5) derives at least one-third of its support from the general public. A 501(c)(3) purpose includes—but is not limited to—medical, educational, religious, scientific and charitable endeavors.
Can I direct my donation to my local hospital or community?
Yes! Each hospital has an Area of Greatest Need Fund that is used for purposes specific to that hospital and community. Many other funds specific to Greeley Hospital, Medical Center of the Rockies and Poudre Valley Hospital have been established. We recognize and celebrate the strong connection many of our donors have with their community hospital because of the life-changing moments that take place within their walls. Our development staff will be happy to talk with you about the impact you intend to have with your gift and where you can designate your gift to achieve your specific philanthropic goal. If the fund you are looking for is not listed on the website or giving form you are using, please contact us, and we will help you with your gift.
How do you ensure that my funds will be used for the area I intended?
Each fund held by UCHealth Northern Colorado Foundation is administered by foundation and health system staff who are obligated to uphold the intent of the fund established in the fund description. Each fund has separate accounting and reporting, subject to periodic auditing to ensure spending according to the fund purpose.
Our staff abides by the Donor Bill of Rights, a set of principles articulated by the Association for Fundraising Professionals, the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy, the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, and the Giving Institute.
Can you give me some examples of programs that span UCHealth’s northern Colorado network that are included in the foundation’s philanthropic efforts?
UCHealth offers programs and community health initiatives across northern Colorado that are made stronger by the health system’s regional network. The foundation seeks philanthropic support for programs such as Healthy Hearts, Oncology Services, Cardiac Care and Medical Research that make an impact across Larimer and Weld counties. Philanthropic support from donors in communities across the region help to bolster these initiatives and advance the health of our families, friends and neighbors in northern Colorado.

I named the foundation in my will under a former foundation name. Do I need to change my will?
Our foundation’s Tax ID number remains the same: 74-1894581. If this number is included in your estate documentation, there is no need to change the language. References to any of our former names may not pose a problem, because we have registered our former names as DBAs with the Colorado Secretary of State Charitable Solicitations Division, but it would be prudent to update your will to include both our Tax ID/EIN as well as the new name.
