Safe Kids Larimer County

Accidental Injury Prevention in
Northern Colorado

Unintentional injuries are the number one cause of death to Americans 1-44 years old. Safe Kids Larimer County’s mission is to prevent accidental injuries to children ages 0-19. Safe Kids partners with community organizations such as fire, EMS, law enforcement, local non-profits and more to provide safety resources and education to families and children in northern Colorado.

Some of their priorities for programming and education includes:

  • Child Passenger Safety
  • Bicycle Safety and Pedestrian Safety
  • Teen Driving Safety
  • Water Safety

Car Seat & Child Passenger Safety

Car seat use reduces the risk of death by 71% for infants, 54% for children ages 1-4 and 45% for booster-aged children. Yet, of the children ages 12 years and younger who died in a vehicle crash in 2013, 38% were not buckled up. (CDC)

Safe Kids Larimer County is pleased to offer classes for families in financial need of a car seat/booster seat for their child. Attendees must participate in a 1-hour class to learn about proper car seat use. At the end of the program, families receive a brand-new car seat that is appropriate for the age, weight and height of their child.
