A plentiful blood supply is vital to health care. Every day, donated blood helps patients of all ages: accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those battling cancer. According to the American Red Cross, every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood.

UCHealth Garth Englund Blood Center provides 90% of the blood needed at our northern Colorado hospitals. GEBC reached its 40th anniversary in late 2021 but because of the pandemic was unable to have a public celebration. Thus, the center is planning something special later this year to celebrate its four decades of service.

In the meantime, check out these stories to see how philanthropic dollars help GEBC fulfill its mission:

► New electronic system streamlines check-in for blood donors
