UCHealth Northern Colorado Foundation announces a $1.05 million gift from the Woodward Charitable Trust to enhance public spaces in Pavilion 1 at UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies (MCR).
The transformational investment supports donor-funded amenities in the new building, including the bistro, meditation room, gift shop and gathering areas. These spaces complement the hospital’s advanced clinical services by creating welcoming environments where patients, visitors and staff can pause, recharge and connect.
The gift builds upon the Trust’s longstanding partnership with UCHealth and advances the organizations’ shared commitment to the health and well-being of northern Colorado.
“The Woodward Charitable Trust has a long-standing commitment to strengthening the health and well-being of our growing region,” said Kody Braisted, President of the Woodward Charitable Trust. “We are proud to support MCR and the patients, families and caregivers who will benefit from the healing environments throughout Pavilion 1.”
“We are deeply grateful to the Woodward Charitable Trust for this extraordinary investment in healthcare in our region,” said Amanda Giacalone, senior director of UCHealth Northern Colorado Foundation. “While Pavilion 1 expands access to advanced, lifesaving care, gifts like this help ensure the experience inside those walls reflects compassion, dignity and healing for everyone who enters.”
MCR serves as northern Colorado’s only Level I Trauma Center and a regional referral hub for patients across Colorado and neighboring states. The hospital’s $288 million expansion increased capacity from 193 to 287 beds and includes a new five-story inpatient pavilion, expanded cancer services, new intensive care and trauma-surgical units, enhanced cardiac and stroke capabilities, expanded emergency department capacity and additional imaging resources.
As one of state’s fastest-growing regions, the project allows more patients to receive advanced trauma, cardiac, stroke and cancer care locally, reducing the need to travel outside northern Colorado for specialized treatments.
“The growth of northern Colorado requires continued investment in access to exceptional care,” said Kevin Unger, president and CEO of UCHealth’s north region. “The MCR expansion strengthens our ability to meet the evolving care needs of our communities while creating an environment that supports everyone who walks through our doors. We are grateful to the Woodward Charitable Trust for helping make that vision come to life, and for their long history of partnership with UCHealth.”
The gift also brought the Foundation’s fundraising efforts for the project to completion, raising $2.6 million in philanthropic support.
