UCHealth Poudre Valley Hospital receives seven-figure bequest from Pedersen Toyota founder to support children’s services
Through a bequest to UCHealth Northern Colorado Foundation, Gerald Pedersen capped off a decades-long legacy of donating to health in northern Colorado. Designated for children’s hospital services, the gift will support the new state-of-the-art, five-bed pediatrics unit at UCHealth Poudre Valley Hospital (PVH). His son, Mark Pedersen, presented the foundation with his father’s legacy gift.

With the turn of the new year, the UCHealth Poudre Valley Hospital (PVH) construction project is expected to reach important milestones in 2024. After nearly 100 years of serving our community, PVH is a clear leader in providing progressive, quality patient care, driven by our passionate and exceptional physicians, nurses, and staff.
State grant to fund the purchase of additional radios used in hospital emergencies
UCHealth Northern Colorado Foundation was awarded a grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) that will provide for additional, two-way radios for two UCHealth hospitals. Existing communication systems at UCHealth Greeley Hospital and Medical Center of the Rockies will be expanded to widen the number of staff who have access to handheld radio devices while at work.
Grant award to fund Safe Kids Larimer County’s 2024 car seat needs
UCHealth Northern Colorado Foundation (NCF) was recently awarded a $13,400 grant to support Safe Kids Larimer County (SKLC). These funds will be instrumental in facilitating the purchase of over 150 car seats and booster seats for low-income families in Larimer County and Estes Park, Colorado.
Philanthropy paves the way: Empowering local cancer patients with accessible treatment closer to home
Thanks to philanthropic dollars, more local cancer patients can receive their treatments close to home. In the three-plus years since the gynecologic oncology (GYN-ONC) program’s launch in northern Colorado, patient volumes have increased, and a need for additional radiation equipment arose. Through donor generosity, the radiation oncology department was able to purchase equipment that helps meet the increased patient volume at our Harmony Campus cancer center.
Local emergency responders receive grant to enhance tactical-medical integration skills
The funding from the Northeast Colorado Region Healthcare Coalition (NERHCC) helped deliver a four-day course held at the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office and at nearby simulation grounds. Emergency medical personnel underwent training and simulations to provide medical support in dangerous situations such as SWAT calls, search-and-rescue calls, dive rescue calls, and wildfires.
