Katie’s story

“UCHealth Northern Colorado Foundation plays an important role in our community, and including the foundation in my estate plans was an easy decision.

“Estate gifts are easy to give, and the benefits of this program mean so much to me as a scholarship recipient. Someone decided to give a major gift at his passing, and I benefited—someone I never even knew.

“From that gift, I was compelled to set up a gift so I could help others I’ve never met. My heart for serving others is empowered through this program, and I’m a proud donor.”

Richard’s story

For Richard G. Titus, the kindness and care he received from nurses at Poudre Valley Hospital and Medical Center of the Rockies left a long-lasting impression. So much so that he left a bequest totaling more than $520,000 to the foundation for employee scholarships. A portion of the gift is held in an endowment to support scholarships in perpetuity. The remainder established the Richard G. Titus Scholarship for Nurse Leaders. Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis to nursing staff employed at UCHealth in the system’s northern region that are seeking a Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN). Dozens of nurse leader scholarships have been awarded.

Kristi’s story

“Designating UCHealth Northern Colorado Foundation as the beneficiary of my IRA was an easy process with a lot of sentiment behind it.

“My father passed away at the young age of 58 from bone cancer, so as you can imagine, I have a huge place in my heart for our wonderful local cancer center. My father’s legacy is prominent in Ft. Morgan, Colorado, as well as with many of his clients, friends and family all over the planet. Part of my legacy is to leave behind his name and my contribution to show how much I loved him and to show how passionate I am about helping families as they navigate the cancer journey.

“Making the foundation a beneficiary of my IRA was simple. I contacted the agency that is holding my IRA and asked to simply add UCHealth Northern Colorado Foundation c/o Cancer Center as the beneficiary. No attorney, no will, nor formal documentation. All that was required of me was to acknowledge the change—and POOF it was done! The only thing it cost me was a feeling of tremendous gratitude and sheer joy!”
